Hon Tiamy in his Democracy Day message through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Sanusi Abdullahi Oyelekan, released on Thursday in Ibadan as Nigeria marks its 32nd Anniversary of the annulled 1993 June 12 general election saying, Nigerian politicians needed to inject more youths into the governance, that youths are supposed to be leaders of today not waiting till tomorrow.
Recall that in 2018, the Former President Muhammadu Buhari moved Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12 in honour of one of the Nigerian heroes for democracy, Chief Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola and to remind all Nigerians of one free and fair election after which the presumed winner (M.K.O Abiola) along with Nigerians were denied their rights and their choice.
The Special Adviser to Gov Makinde said: “Our Dear Governor His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde has for long keyed into the youth advocacy in governance and public offices as many youths have being inclusive in almost all sectors of governance in this great state.
“And this should be emulated by all in the position of power to put the interest of the youth at the forefront.
Hon Tiamy, however advised the youths that power is not served as foods in a restaurant, hence the Nigerian youth must boldly equip themselves with needed skills and peacefully work toward gaining positions of leadership in the country sooner.
END.
