World Arabic Language Day: Lagos Based Arabic Institute Sets to Commemorate D-Day


A Lagos-based Arabic and Islamic Institute, Ma’hdu Diraasaatul Qur’an Wal – Lugha, is set to mark World Arabic Language Day Celebration for the first time in Nigeria.

This was contained in a press release signed by the event’s Publicity and Media Relations Coordinator, Tajudeen Balogun, on Monday.

The occasion, according to the host and Mudir of the institute, Al-Imam (Dr) Ridwan Ibrahim, is to showcase the richness and relevance of the Arabic language – in academic, religious practice and daily human interactions.


Balogun disclosed that to mark the event, the institute is hosting a public lecture on the day’s theme: “Arabic: A Universal Language”, on Sunday, December 15th, 2024.

The lecture is to be delivered by Al-Ustadh Nasir Alabi, Head Teacher, Centre for Islamic Re–Awakening, Lagos.

The session is expected to hold at Mosadi Oluwa Islamic Centre, 4, Adeokun street, Ekore bus stop, Oworonsoki, by 10:00am prompt.

The Chief Host of the event, according to the release, is As-Sheikh Sa’eed Salman.


Teachers and students of Arabic, language experts, Muslim faithful and individuals who seek knowledge are expected to attend the event.

The World Arabic Day is celebrated on December 18th, annually while this is the first time to mark the day in Nigeria.
