The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked the viral information about the death of its Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu.
This was contained in a telephone conversation with GLAD TIDINGS NEWS by INEC spokesperson, Rotimi Oyekanmi on Saturday.
According to Oyekanmi, "Such a news story would have been widely reported by trustworthy local and international media.
"The absence of any credible news reports suggests that this is a death hoax.
“The Inec chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, is alive, hale and hearty,” Oyekanmi said.
GLAD TIDINGS NEWS recently reported Prof Mahmood Yakubu commented on Ghana's elections on 7th December 2024 after the Electoral monitoring assignment.
It is very imperative to note that death hoaxes targeting public figures are a form of misinformation. They exploit public attention and can cause confusion.
