The Special Adviser to Gov Makinde On Education Intervention, Honourable Oloye Suraj Abiodun Tiamy has on Thursday congratulated Nigerian Muslims on sighting the new 1447 Hijrah year, urging them to ensure their attitudes reflect the significance Hijrah which commemorated the migration (Hijrah) of Prophet Muhammad (May Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him) from Makkah to Madinah.

This was disclosed in a statement signed and released to newsmen in Ibadan by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Sanusi Abdullahi Oyelekan, Honourable Tiamy urged Muslims to use the period to reflect and live their lives based on the teachings of Islam and Prophetic traditions.
“On the occasion of the Islamic New Year 1447A.H which commemorates the Hijrah of our beloved Prophet of Islam from Makkah to Madinah, I congratulate all Muslims in Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in particular, Oyo State and Nigeria in general. And I want to urge all Nigerian Muslims and other religious affiliations to imbibe the lessons of compassion, peace, and support for one another. I wish all Muslims a blessed new Hijrah year,” Hon Tiamy was quoted to have said.
Hon Tiamy also commended His Excellency, the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for making it worthy of reflection in the declaration of Public Holiday to mark the day. This, according to Honourable Tiamy will enhance reflections on the importance and historic significance of the Hijrah and the overall journey of the Prophet (PBUH) from Makkah to Medina in 622 AD.
